How AI Sees Your Dental Website

Clear entities reduce ambiguity
A machine tries to connect names, places, services and relationships. Use the same official practice name, location, phone and clinician details across the website and Business Profile. Give each location a distinct page with its real address, hours, accessibility information and services. Give clinicians factual biographies with qualifications stated in a way that is current and permitted.
Do not create false certainty. Say that a clinician evaluates candidacy rather than declaring every reader a candidate. Separate general education from personalized clinical advice.
Well-structured answers are easier to extract
Use one descriptive page title, a clear main heading, meaningful subheadings, short definitions, useful lists and direct answers followed by context. Descriptive links help both people and crawlers understand where they lead. Text alternatives make relevant images understandable when the pixels are unavailable and improve access for people using assistive technology.

Structured data is a label, not a substitute

It cannot rescue an inaccurate page, force an AI citation or guarantee a rich result. Validate it after template changes and remove fields the practice cannot substantiate.
Evidence, authorship and maintenance matter
For health-related pages, identify the author or clinical reviewer, give a review date and cite dependable sources for material claims. Explain where evidence is uncertain and avoid outcome promises. Correct outdated facts rather than changing a date without review. Original photographs and specific practice information can add value when they are truthful, authorized and accessible.
Google's current guidance says the same SEO fundamentals apply to its AI features and that no special optimization or AI file is required for eligibility. This describes Google Search; independent AI products can use different sources and controls.
Know what your controls actually do
A noindex directive tells supporting search crawlers not to show a page in search results. Google says nosnippet also prevents page content from being used as a direct input to its AI Overviews and AI Mode, while max-snippet limits how much may be used. These controls do not necessarily govern every independent crawler or previously acquired copy. Read each provider's documentation and contracts before assuming a result.
Never publish patient information in the hope that a crawler will ignore it. Remove or protect sensitive content at the source.
A practical AI-readiness review
Check whether key pages return successfully, can be rendered, are internally linked and are indexable by intention. Reconcile practice facts across pages. Review titles and headings, add missing source attribution, validate structured data, compress media and test mobile accessibility. Search for unsupported superlatives and stale clinician or service claims. Finally, inspect search performance and server logs where appropriate rather than relying on an AI visibility score with no transparent method.
